Probably exhausted from our hiking in the
Tablelands, the slow motion on our way back allowed us to discover small
yellow flowers, amongst other high herbs, that had a peculiar appearance.
A closer look confirmed that they were actually orchids, the platanthera
clavellata. (Of course, there was no tag there in the soil and we only
found out the name later...) A lot less spectacular than plathantera
psychodes, platanthera clavellata still has some charm.
You can
find plathantera clavellata in all eastern Canada, in moist environments.
Our colony grew in high altitude, under direct sunlight, continually
swept by wind, in a damp peaty environment. |
