Wild Orchids
Since a few years, we have rediscovered the joy of the great outdoors. Thus, hiking, bicycle touring and caravanning are now among our favourite activities during summer time. Not only do they keep us healthy, but they allow us discover and admire wild orchids and mushrooms.
Here are a few orchids that we have had the chance to admire in their natural habitat. Of the 77 known orchid species in Canada, about 50 can be found in Quebec and about 60 in Ontario. Our photo collection will probably be enhanced by our next adventures…
HO! Don’t forget that wild orchids are only there for the pleasure of the eye. Some of them take up to 10 YEARS before they even reach their maturity. To tear a wild orchid from her natural habitat and transplant it in your garden is to sentence her to a certain death.
